Rules FAQ

What's the tournament format?

A single-round-robin Preliminary Round, then seeded Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Battle for Bronze, and the Championship. Rankings start with total wins, then set ratio, points ratio, and head-to-head.

How much is the entry fee and what does it include?

₱3,500 per person, covering 2 jerseys, court fees for 8 guaranteed games (best of 3 sets per game, best 5 sets for Quarterfinals), medals, staff, documentation, and promotion.

When and where are the games?

August 29, 30, 31, September 5, and September 6 at Gameville Ball Park. Teams should be at the venue 30 minutes before their scheduled match.

How do matches work?

Preliminary Round matches are Best of 3 (Sets 1–2 to 25 points, deciding set to 15 points). Playoff matches are Best of 5. In the Quarterfinals, Set 5 is first to 15, win by two, with a maximum score of 20. If the #1 seed finishes the Preliminary Round undefeated (7–0), it starts its Quarterfinal match against the #8 seed with a 1–0 set advantage.

How big is a roster, and are collegiate/pro players allowed?

12 to 16 registered players per team; only rostered players may play. Former collegiate (UAAP/NCAA) and semi-pro/pro players are allowed. At any time, teams may field up to 2 non-libero players and 1 libero from these leagues who are below 40 years old. Players from these classifications who are 40 years old or older on the first day of the tournament are exempt from this limitation.

What can we win?

Medals for every member of the top 3 teams, plus individual awards: a Dream Team (best outside hitters, middle blockers, opposite hitter, setter, libero), a Tournament MVP, and a Finals MVP. Podium Teams will also receive more prizes from the organizing committee and our sponsors.

What happens if we're late or short on players?

There is a 5-minute grace period from scheduled start. Fielding 5 players or fewer is an automatic default.
